thermal pad

A good compressibility of thermal pad means a good ability to absorb the shock like a cushion. It becomes easy to apply a thermal pad for several chips with single heat sink at the same time.

gap pad

Gap Pad provides an effective thermal interface between heat sinks and electronic devices where uneven surface topography, air gaps and rough surface textures are present.

Thermal tape are made of special conductive compounds designed to rapidly and efficiently transfer heat. It create a better seal between the CPU and the heatsink.

QT606 series of thermal grease are silicone based compound, good performance applying to the chipsets which have heavy heat problems such as CPU, VGA chipsets.

The hard and stiff characteristic of graphite pad can be used for heat transfer on X-Y horizontal area. The position of the heat sink can be a suitable place to fit the narrow space or small mechanical design. Some applications used copper foil instead of graphite pad due to EMI issue.

Thermal pad

A good compressibility of thermal pad means a good ability to absorb the shock like a cushion. It becomes easy to apply a thermal pad for several chips with single heat sink at the same time.

Installation with Phase-Change Material

Follow these guidelines to install a heat sink on a processor, using a thermal pad as the thermal interface material. Thermal pads should be used with lidless processors only. That is, the processor die comes into direct contact with the heat sink.

1. Verify that the heat sink has a thermal pad attached. If the heat sink does not have a thermal pad attached, locate the area of the heat sink that will directly contact the processor, and apply the thermal pad to this area only.
2. Remove the protective film (Release paper) from the thermal pad.
3. Mount the heat sink onto the processor.

Do not re-use thermal phase change. Before re-using the heat sink remove the thermal interface material and reapply a new phase change.
